Hi there, I'm in the final stretch of my TC/BS and head gasket replacement. I have also taken off the sump or oil pan for a good cleaning and it needed it. Putting the timing cover back on was a snap without the oil pan or head to interfere.
The car is a 91 9kt with 157K miles. I'm trying to get 300K miles out of the car.
Bought all the parts from Eeuroparts. Every component in the timing chain/balance shaft area has been replaced. Did I need to replace all these parts? No, but I'm the "while I'm there" type of person so I've replaced just about everything. Parts cost around $600US. I'm finding out that all the little seals and misc cost quite a bit causing budget strain.
It really is a tough call on when to draw the line how much one should spend to keep a vehicle running. I hate making a monthly payment, so I keep fixing them until my cars won't move anymore. Bye
