Isn't it funny that what you describe as the trigger of LHM seems to happen regularly with 9k owners? When I was struggling with the system it had the same way of behaving.
I do disagree with 'new brain' that's almost always the last thing that breaks down. So far for the good news.
I'm not familiar with the subtle electronics of a 5-speed TCS (I drive auto), but start with some first cheap troubleshooting by replacing the valve on the firewall and the one above the driver side front wheel with a known good one. Change back if it doesn't help you.
Get the air hose off the throttle body and thoroughly clean the body and butterfly with carburator cleaner.
Next step: get someone with a tech-II read the codes. This sometimes gets fuzzy, because the codes can be quite inconsistent sometimes.
Not sure here, but I think the 5speed has a throttle body with separate TPS (The auto it's one piece).
The reason I'm saying this is that I'm afraid that worst case you might need a new throttle body. Happened to me and some others on this board with this 'heat related' TCS failure.
Just described some things you can do without big $$$, up to the point that you need big $$$ (=new Throttle body). Reading codes with Tech-II should be around $25. Y
Others on the board might tell you more specific things for the 5-speed. Anders is very knowledgable, and otherwise, do a search on 'TCS' and take the rest of the day off to read.

Good luck!!
