I have asked 3 different Saab service departments, and all 3 could not give me a common answer, though they all agreed that the '98 could have been installed with it at the factory .
I did look at the color bands on my front and rear suspension, and they matched the color bands on a '97 AERO auto. So I assume my 9K CSE does in fact have the "AERO" suspension. Plus, the rear sway bar is 19mm, which no other year CSE ever had.
To determine the suspension (actually, the springs) combo used in any 9K, you must take into consideration the accessories installed, type of transmission, turbocharger model, destination of vehicle, etc. Because of all of these variables, it becomes quite difficult to pinpoint what the "AERO" suspension actually is comprised of.
But, as Traffic Shark noted, Saab had these suspension parts to use up before the advent of the 9-5, and more than likely plunked them into the '98 model year. As I mentioned, my 9K has the "AERO" suspension, as well as Traffic Shark's '98 stick, though they both differ in the color bands because of the tranny/turbocharger differences.
