A few people seem to think the 1993 car (I have one too) is unreliable, and you could Search for this, but having read this board for a couple of years I doubt if it's very different overall from any other model year. It has an early implementation of Trionic but mine ssems to work fine. Bits of the engine were beefed up for the 1994 model year so (I understand) some transmission parts etc. aren't interchangeable.
I've had quite a few breakdowns and replacements, including:
Auto transmission at about 112K – not unusual but not inevitable either!
Cooling fan wiring corroded
Serpentine belt pulley failure
Head gasket at about 115K
Water pump (not failed, but replaced when head gasket went)
All cooling hoses replaced after a couple went pop
DI cassette
BPC valve & "hooter" valve
However these things can and do go on 9KTs of any vintage. Think you need to see the car, look at past servicing records and get a feel for it as much as you can. But as you've already picked up, the auto box sounds off-key since on the face of it, it would have made more sense to rebuild such a low-mileage 'box: perhaps the owner wanted to save money, and saved it elsewhere as well?
