because if you just shut the engine down without allowing the turbo to spin down (as well as cool down), then you'll probably spin the bearing, thus shortening the life of the turbo (this message is for those that think they don't need to allow the engine to idle for at least 30 secs. because the have water cooling). Also, like zeke mentioned, be sure to allow the engine to warm up before using the heavy foot. This is why I've seen so many cracked turbos.
