Maybe I'm answering this wrong but the biggest difference in driving a turbo car is that you don't need to rev it up to get descent power. I always short shift 1st gear (shift at about 2000rpm)and then shift out of second at about 3000 rpm. Although this isn't how you launch for a race, it gets you moving very smoothly with no whip-lash effect of the turbo in low gears. Once in third you can put as much power down as needed, and you'll make up for any lost time. I second the thoughts about warm up and cool down. I hope your son is responsible behind the wheel, this car could tempt him into trouble. Good luck and enjoy.
