CV boot torn - driveable?

I just realized that the outer CV boot on the drivers' side is torn. Some grease has leaked out, and is on the back of the wheel.
Is the car driveable? I was going to make an appointment anyways for a week from this coming Monday. Should I try to get the car in ASAP? If it matters, I drive about 300 miles per week, mixed highway and city.
(I know it's not a difficult repair to DIY, but I just don't have the time to deal with it.)
Thanks,
mike
