If not a 9KT, then what ?

This will be almost a philosophical post - or maybe even it is an
unanswerable question - but here goes:
If a person loves driving a 9KT, but after a bunch of them has
gotten to a point where they want a less demanding auto that has
equal comfort, handling, zip and stability - what would even be
a close runner up ?
My story:
Recently I traded my well loved, but overly hungry Aero for a
very nice '88 9KT, which I like alot - but which needs tranny
and clutch - SOON !
At the same time, I found a super deal on a 900T that is very
clean, well maintained - but rusty....The Plan: Drive the 900T
as a winter car and while the work got done on the 9KT, then
sell it.
Problem is - it died on me, on the interstate last week, and
had to be towed to the shop - so I am driving the 9KT, bad
tranny and all.
Hence my question - is there someone here that loves Saabs,
but has found something (Please don't say one of the newer
Volvos - I have heard they are hungrier than Saabs !) that
is even a close second to our beloved 9KT's ?
Thanks for reading all that !
