I would recommend a 9-5 over a 9000, but if you must have a 9K buy the newest, lowest mileage example you can find. A '98 9000 is a sweet car, and a well-maintained unit should be fairly reliable as 9000 models go.
Pay more for a car that has had regular (every 3K) oil changes and has records to prove it.
Avoid V6 and TCS-equipped 4-cylinders. Stick to '96-'98 models.
Have the car checked by a SAAB specialist BEFORE you buy it.
Good luck in your search,
Eric H.
