CV Joint snap ring

I am completing the installation of a new CV boot on my 91 9kt per Quasi's instructions and have some misgivings about whether the snap ring is secured. I was pushing on the rotor and caliper like crazy but heard no click from the sanp ring falling into its groove. I later noticed that the only movement on the shaft was from the inboard side and surmised that the clip was now in place. I tried to move the outboard side of the shaft in and out from the joint and it appeared to have snapped into place based on how it moved, but I didn't hear this occur as I have in the past. I guess that I need some reassurance that things won't fly apart when I am on the road. I guess that the strut would prevent that from happening anyway.
Thanks,
Dan
