I should have qualified that--those 3 an 4 grand repair bills were NOT for rebuilding major components like engines and transmissions. By and large they were for long lists of routine and not so routine maintenance (like the differetial seals, suspension arms, etc). All cars have their issues, including Hondas and Toyotas (I had to replace a differential on a Toyota truck at 100K) but Audis seem especially expensive based soley on my experience at one dealer. Even VWs are pretty expensive--a customer spent $1,200 to replace the altenator on a VR6 Golf. I sold plenty of Audis to people who were on their fifth or sixth one, going back to the seventies when they really were pretty terrible. They almost all would say the same thing, "they were very expensive to own, but I LOVED the car." Audis trully are wonderful cars, and if you shop around for parts and service owning one could be a bit more tolerable. But heaven help you if you maintain them at the dealers.
