I've owned a 1990 9000T auto for the past 10 years. It now has 138K miles. No engine failure and no transmission problems. Lots of little issues (heater core, motor mounts, serp belt, etc), but I've never been left by the side of the road. I calculate it's cost about $1500 annually in repairs and upkeep (excluding gas and insurance), but I get everything fixed by others in Boston, where labor costs are high! Even so, when you factor in the low initial cost of a used 9000 it's a pretty good deal. And it's a great car to drive.
