and I was really gung ho about it when I found out about it, being such a cool idea. But after giving it a whirl, I decided it was just too limited in scope, even as an augmentation to my regular irons, and returned it. The carbon tips are just too delicate, and the desire to push harder on the joint to get more current transfer is just irresistible, resulting in a tip chip. Unless they provide a bag of tip replacements for 50 cents per, it's just too disposable for my taste.
Even accounting for the amount of time it takes for my Weller butane iron to heat up and cool down, it was much faster getting an acceptable solder joint with that than the Cold Heat tool.
Read the link provided by Rupert, and I noticed the last sentence indicated he had to use his regular iron to reflow the solder to get a decent joint- that pretty much sums it up.
