Salutations:
I have looked at both the older series 2 wire and new series 2 wire as possible replacement candidates actually. But I am not hopeful.
As near as I can figure (and this is not gospel by any means) - the old series two wire is simply a switched air valve. X conditions - roll switch and dump pressure (lowest safe setting for average conditions). The most recent (Trionic 7?) two wire appears to be a dial of some sort. X conditions - power dial (metered for ECU feedbacks and octane) - same sort of function as our BPC.
The Trionic 5 BPC is two magnets controlling the position of a floating air control disk in a vented air channel. In function - not unlike the new version series 7 two wire, but powered completely differently I fear.
Actually, I do wonder how well the new versions will hold up over time as the turbo/engine starts to really age and leaks vapour/carbon into the air circuit in the new BPC from the compressor out line. The 5 series BPC is effectively self scavenging in that regard.
That said - if anyone could figure out what the new or old two wire power inputs looked like at the BPC, perhaps a basic controller that translated APC feeds could be worked up.
However, my take remains that it is better to figure out how to really fix our OEM BPC so it doesn't self destruct and see where that leads.
If it can be made to float a control disk reliably so it *doesn't* keep chewing up the vent ring - I think there is every reason to suspect that there are several easy black box options to control (boost) pressure whilst still retaining the APC control protection system and all it's benefits.
First things first though - gotta get a some on the bench and see if I am heading in the right direction. Everyone appreciates that I may be way off and this is all related to a fatally engineered BPC idea that is not reasonably salvageable no matter what?
That is why I'm trying to mooch dead BPC's to start with instead of buying new ones. It may well be that the right answer is in fact advancing the MBC+A to it's logical conclusion.
