still need help, spool-up/ boost problem Posted by TML [Email] (#2212) [Profile/Gallery] (more from TML) on Sat, 12 Nov 2005 13:57:26 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Vehicle info:
97 Aero 5spd, with recently installed JSP 3" downpipe and cat, manual boost controller, Forge BPV, open air intake.
Symptoms:
-very slow spool-up, can only get about 3 PSI in the time it would normally take to reach max boost. If I keep the pedal to the floor, it eventually gets up to about 12 PSI (at >5000rpm). If I release quickly from that point, I do NOT hear the chattering of the BPV through the air intake that I would normally hear.
-check engine light is on, not sure why, waiting for code reader I ordered.
What I've checked so far:
-all vacuum hoses
-turbo looks good, both turbines spin freely, wastegate opens and closes
-wastegate actuator works, applied pressure and it opens, closes when pressure released
-drove with W hose disconnected, no difference
-swapped DI cassette and spark plugs
-replaced PCV valve (was open both ways)
-checked hoses and pipes from turbo to intercooler
What is left to check? Could the intercooler have a leak? I am currently stumped.
