I think $2800 private party would be a good deal for this car, but when it's being sold by a dealer at that price I'm inclined to be more sceptical. A dealer wants to make a profit, so you want to go over the car more carefully.
If the paint is good quality paint I'd be surprised. Red can be prone to fade and color shift apparently if it's not done correctly. Correctly done might push the $2000 ceiling.
One major point is that the 93 2.3 engines (and as far back as 91) had suspect balance shaft chain componentry. This can destroy the timing chain, and the engine along with it, if it fails. But many drive these years without addressing it. It's a crapshoot (unless the dealer can say the chain was done and show proof).
See my message below about auditioning the TCS. Make sure it passes the test.
But that's not to say don't go for it. If it's mechanically sound (how does it DRIVE??) you may feel, what the heck. It's a good price for an Aero and if it reflects only the repaint, you might have a good deal on your hands.
