1. '88 9kt, driven in the rust belt since new. so it's rusty. But that engine keeps on chuggin' away. I love the sound of the turbo on that model.
2. '91 9kt. A fast and tight car.
3. '95 9000 CSE. RIP. Wife got hit on driver's front quarter panel by a Buick that was probably going about 50 at the time of impact; car was totaled. She was pregnant, and our two other kids were in the car. Her shoulder was sore for two months. That's it. My son noticed the smoke coming out of the driver's seat belt area from the firing of the pre-tensioner. That was kind of interesting.
All three cars required heater core replacement, and I did it myself. That job requires no special tools and would be fine to do in good weather in a parking lot. These cars have done great for us and have been a joy to drive. I would definitely recommend a turbocharged model. Their engine longevity is no less than non-turbo. However, the transmission would probably last longer in a light-pressure turbo (9000 CS). If you are light on the gas pedal yourself, but you want that power on tap for emergencies, get a LPT, knowing that the tranny is probably better, and modify it to produce higher HP.
