help, o2 sensor problem Posted by TML [Email] (#2212) [Profile/Gallery] (more from TML) on Sat, 14 Jan 2006 15:30:09 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Getting code P0130 (front o2 sensor circuit fault). I checked for continuity on the wires from the sensor to pins 23 and 47, both less than 0.2ohms. I measured the voltage on same pins with the engine running. It climbs up to about 0.95V fairly quickly, then slowly drops to about 0.90V. After a minute or so, the reading starts to oscillate between 0.1V and 0.9V, up and down approximately every second. I know it should not do that, but am stumped as to the cause. I have tried three different sensors (two of which are brand new), and even swapped in a different ECU. I've checked ground continuity to the ECU and the o2 sensor, both are less than 1ohm.
One thing I noticed is immediately after I replaced the o2 sensor the third time, the CEL stayed off for about 100km. Then after resetting it, the light comes back very quickly, within 15km. Could the sensor be getting damaged somehow? Some kind of poisoning from the ceramic coating? (I recently installed a 3" downpipe with ceramic coating). The sensor looks very clean. I'm grasping at straws here. Is it worth sending one of the sensors back to get tested by the manufacturer? Driveability and fuel economy seem to be relatively unaffected. Any ideas would be most welcome.
