the light is tripped around 5-7psi, so you could be running aroud 15-20psi at 2000RPM and you wouldn't know....
How many miles on the car, are you a second, third owner? the sludge issue is a possibility, as to worn mains. I've had mains and rods worn to the copper, and the engine would 'hammer' around 2500RPM with 30psi oil pressure. major clearance problem!
If it is a sludge problem, doing an engine flush will not help matters at this point...but maybe doing the bearings.
Bearings can be done with the head off and the block still in the frame. I did it last week. It is more painstaking and requires some skill to do the honing of cylinders, and walking the upper main bearings around with the crank still in, but doable if you want to venture there. I did my third engine rebuild 'in frame' last week. Such a big difference in oil pressure and smoothness (55psi at 212F oil temp at 200 RPM with 10W30, as compared to 25psi at 200F at 2000RPM 15W50). I saved this last engine just in time (350K km)!
