Did the car overheat when the belt was tossed? Posted by adam [Email] (#344) [Profile/Gallery] (more from adam) on Wed, 26 Jul 2006 06:28:28 In Reply to: More picture of the disaster, yaofeng, Tue, 25 Jul 2006 17:04:18 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
yaofeng,
My '92 had a similar issue. I was driving down the interstate on the way to work and tossed the serpentine belt. After many miles, I finally looked down to see the temp gauge PEGGED. I immediately shut down the car and coasted to the side of the road. I popped the hood and saw the belt hanging. I had a friend tow me to a parking lot where I left car. After work, I put on a new belt, fired it up and no issues. About a week later, I threw a rod out the front of the block. Dramatically overheating it must have weakened something and it gave up the fight. If that motor you have lined up doesn't go through, I still have mine if you need it.
