Hi folks. I've been searching for a nice '96-98 9000 for a little while now. I've come across one that sounds very nice and just what I am looking for. Aside from the fact that it's a multi-day drive away from me, one issue that has come to my attention is that the car was repainted about a year and a half ago. This was due to a freak hailstorm, after which the owner said that insurance paid to repaint all their vehicles. It sounds very well taken care of, she's the 2nd owner since 32k miles, and even volunteered the number and contact of the shop where she's had all the work done so that I may call them.
A second question I have is in regards to pricing. Reading older posts here, I see all kinds of what to me seem to be screaming deals on used 9000, like half of KBB or less. I've also found that KBB is by far the highest, followed by the Consumer NADA, then Edmunds. Car is a 1998 CSE manual.
KBB (private party) - Excellent $6460, Good $5895
NADA - Average retail $5675
Edmunds - Outstanding $3460, Clean $3079
The Edmunds site deducts nearly $1000 from the value to the mileage though, even though the car has been driven on average about 11k per year (I drive about 15k), so I tend to think of it as really lowball. Asking price is $7000. What do you experienced used 9000 buyers use as a rule of thumb for pricing?
Thanks in advance!
Aaron Gilbert
