So I think my 1994 Aero is in the early stages of both head gasket and heater core failure. I'm so ticked off. I bought it from a guy on the classifieds a few months ago and had it checked out by Indy Saab before hand but apparently they missed these two issues. DUH! I should have known better having owned an 88 not to buy a car with a freshly detailed engine but whatever.
I had the valve cover gasket replaced because it was leaking oil (something Indy Saab actually found) by a mechanic in the area (yea i know its an easy job but i was busy :) ), get it back and its still leaking oil. Go back and he said its the head gasket but its not so bad that I have to worry about it. This is after I took it up to Mark at Turin Sportscars in Kalamzoo who let me know he thinks the heater core was starting to go in early fall but that again I shouldn't worry about it much.
Well yesterday the car had a rough start and the windows fogged up. Both for the first time on the same day! My wife is having a baby in a couple weeks so I really can't take on 2 massive DIY jobs at the same time and with money being tight theres no way I could afford the easily $1000-$2000 in repairs I probably have (any help on estimates would be nice). So what's a Saab lover supposed to do? The car really is in cherry shape, just had 4 tires and rims, cv joints, battery, full rear brake system replacement down to the hoses, etc... Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Oh one last thing, the rear defroster stopped working too, fuse is OK, light comes on on both the ACC and the instrument cluster, any thoughts?
Thanks in advance!
