as it happens, that's close to my ride. I have a '96 CSE 5 speed, Citrin Beige, with wheels off a '93 Aero-- the ones with the dark gray-beige centers. As I noted earlier, the Aero chassis is coming soon. My winter wheels are ordinary 15" alloys, nothing exciting.
Sure, I wish it was an Aero. The one I found at the same time as I found the CSE was about the same money, but needed a fair bit of work $2-3K). In hindsight it *might* have been a better buy long-term, but I liked the 2 year good-anywhere warranty on my CSE, plus got new snows on alloys and a trailer hitch. Other than a new hooter valve, the car needed nothing, which was nice.
Word has it that Roberti is good. I looked there a lot (online) before I found my CSE at the Swedish Connection in NJ. But decent 9Ks of any kind are getting hard to find, and a couple of dealers have told me that the best ones that come in as trades often go to employees or employee's relatives.
I think it's probably best to try to find a good 9K as a private sale. Just check it out real well. I got a decent one (a CS) for my kid a couple years back for $2K. Needed stuff, but was a good buy.
FWIW, you might check insurance costs. I bet an Aero may have higher rates that a CS or CSE. Worth checking on.
