David-
I found it just browsing known aftermarket intake companies. I thought to myself, what about AEM? I hesitated though, because its basically just a ToysRUs for rice rockets. Didn't know about their recent delving into the filter business however.
Funny you should ask about the paper test. When I went to buy the filter yesterday (I ordered the wrong size on ebay but found it elsewhere), I specifically asked the tuner whether he had seen these filters in action against stock paper filters.
Apparently they did some filtration tests, and the AEM filters slightly better than the stock paper filters. Since it is not constructed like a K&N filter, but more like a paper filter, it works that much better. You have to hold one in your hand to understand what I'm talking about, it really does feel like a thick, paper filter (not sure what the material is though).
Plus, it's washable, and doesn't employ oiling tactics. I'm convinced this will be my last filter for my 9000.
