You used the term "mass" to describe the latch counterweight, so that, in itself, is worth BBS posting points. As to why the light does not come on, it is likely a problem with with the switch/actuating mechanism (my experiences), but just to add additional information, each one of the components of the pictogram is a separate light bulb - not a modern LED. So it is possible, although I have never experienced it personally, that the fault is as simple as a burned out bulb. If you have a voltmeter and know the correct usage of the term "mass," you should have no problem at all finding the fault.
