The BPC valve can be tested to see if the valve disk is sealing and moving. All the hoses and the connector have to be disconnected. Manually blow into the center "W" port. Air should come out of one port and not the other. No air will come out of the closed port of a new valve. If air comes out of both ports the valve is suspect.
The valve coils must have ~3 Ohm resistance before performing the following test. Test valve operation by sparking the valve coils to move the valve disc. Do this carefully to avoid damage to the coils. A very brief fraction of a second contact is all that is needed to move the disc. Under no circumstances apply 12V to the coils for more than a fraction of a second, or the coil bobbins may be thermally distorted causing a leak. Connect +12V to the center contact. Briefly, for a fraction of a second, touch one or the other outside contact to ground. If the valve clicks the opposite port should be closed. If not, repeat with the other outside contact. The valve should click each time, when alternate contact is made to the outside pins, and alternate ports should seal tight. To check for a tight seal, blow into the center port and cover the port with air escaping with your finger. No air should come out of the uncovered port. Do not apply power to a coil while checking the valve for leakage. Any valve that has air coming from both outside ports simultaneously, or one outside port all the time during and after the spark test, or does seal both ports alternately, is suspect.
