I've had my 97 aero in the garage for the last few weeks doing a lot of repairs and taking care of any rust - a real p.i.t.a! My attention was drawn to the sunroof after I cleaned out the front drains via high pressure air. I noticed a wet sponge material above the drains, and it doesn't appear to be drying out on its own. The material is not accessible, so it makes me wonder what kind of rust might be forming back there. Fortunately, I don't have any visible rust spot around my windshield, or rust stains on the headliner. I just shot some air at the sponge material and was surprised to see it contains a lot of water, so I imagine it lines the entire perimeter of the sunroof. I wonder why saab put this stuff in there.
Are the front sunroof drain tubes accessible by removing the headliner or the covers on the pillars?
