I check and double checked all my timing marks before pulling the head. The head looks ok but I will have it checked by a machinist. The headstuds came out very easily -- not loose, just not that tight. Could the studs have stretched? They look like new to me.
If I decide to have the valve seals replaced, what should I expect to spend? The engine never used any oil or smoked. Can overheating damage these seals in a Saab cylinder head?
Am I forgetting anything? I plan on replacing the waterpump "while I'm in there". The timing chain tensioner showed 9.5 - 10 mm of extension. The book says to replace the chain after 11mm. Any suggestions?
