If you count doors, tires, sometimes cylinders, and seat belts, you could fool some people into thinking that a 9-5 Wagon is a Subaru. (Unless you get a Subie sedan)
As the owner of a Subaru ('00 Outback wagon), the Saab (my dad has a 9-5, I have a 9000 Aero) simply out-does it in every category except off-roading. Wind noise, seats, fit-and-finish, seats, NVH, seats, MPG, Seats, handling (my Subie has IPD sway bars and it still is no Saab, although either can be improved greatly), seats, paint quality, etc. etc. etc. I can't drive the Subie more than an hour without the seats causing me pain... ANY recent (C900 and later?) Saab, on the other hand, is far more comfortable.
You get a 2000 Saab Aero Wagon with a stick shift, and I'll trade you my Subie... and I won't ever look back.
Now, I really need to drive a newer Outback/Legacy/etc. I'm sure they are better (They MUST be better...). Unless the issue of seats is resolved in a major way, I won't buy another one...
