I don't believe the Aero auto has an Aero ECU - why would it when it has the CSE turbo. But yes, the only real difference when it comes to automatics is the body kit, the seats, tghe sports suspension and the badge. Absolutely all of which can be retro-fitted. The Anniversaries came with the body kit anyway.
Does anyone know whether an auto Aero VIN identifies the car as an Aero, by the way?
The wire that tells the ECU that it's in an automatic is usually the orange one going to pin. One can test the effect of cutting it be removing fuse 9, but you then lose things like (as I remember) the sunroof and reversing lights. The engine may not adjust its idle to allow for the transmission drag at stop lights the way it used to. In theory you can replace the fuse after starting the engine, restore the other systems and retain the effect until, of course, you turn off.
The effect is interesting, you certainly get more boost, but I'm not sure that in real terms you go much faster, if that doesn't sound too stupid. On a prevous CSE fitted with a 3" JT turbo-back exhaust I cut the wire and left it like that, with no ill effects.
