The check valve is there only to keep the system pressurized after you shut down the car. Put in a switch to run the fuel pump without running the starter, for however long it takes to pressurize the system on startup, and you'll be fine. Might actually come in handy sometime in the the future. I might do it myself, but my son now has my Saab.
