Hey all,
I've had loose clunky steering lately and it seems to be near the steering wheel, i.e. not the rack itself or a loose U-joint pinch bolt.
So I went to take a look at the upper bearing, and was hoping to not have to disarm the airbag and take the steering wheel off first... which may not be possible.
I know the clamshell plastic cowling around the ignition snaps together and there are screws underneath. Question is, is it just the two regular Torx screws (one to the left and one in the center by the telescope lever), or do I need to take out the other two as well? The latter two are larger, "security" Torx (with the pin in the center). Taking the regular Torx screws out loosened up the plastic shell, but not enough for me to get it off with the steering wheel still present, even with the column fully telescoped.
I'm going to have to take the wheel off, aren't I? :)
Thanks,
-John
