The old style head bolts are great and won't give you any issues regardless of circumstance. As Sam mentioned, opinion on re-using the new style ones are mixed, so you'll have to do a little reading and decide on your own whether to re-use them. New new-style ones (if that makes sense) won't give you any trouble, the issue just seems to be on re-use.

For the exhaust studs - yes, they suck. I assume an aftermarket replacement is feasible, but it's typically just the long ones that break, so if you replace them with short ones you should be good to go.
