Thanks for all of the feedback!
Sheesh those headbolts are spendy! I think the stock ones should do fine and I plan to get new ones. I sure do like the look of the stainless exh manifld studs but seeing that they are all the same length gave me pause since it is different than OE and I do not understand why the different length--AL head, cast iron exh manifold, steel studs, etc, lots of different materials that expand at different rates. Does anyone know someone who has installed the pretty exh manifold studs (all short) who might be able to share their experience?
I bought a stud remover socket from Sears (tip from indy!). The head was still in the car and I applied it and the studs came out fine with some effort, though. But none of the long ones broke. However, I gripped the socket on the threads to clear the head itself and it mashed the threads so I definitely need new bolts.
