Everything deflects under load, even your driveway when you walk across it, its just physics.
The 9000 isn't too bad, after all it has a big hole in the back called a hatch. The GM cars I had prior to Saabs were real flexible flyers. They used the body as a spring to get a smooth boulevard ride, that worked until a crack in the road came along. They were dangerous on rough roads. The 99 was a fantastic improvement with ridged unibody, good shocks and suspension travel, and far superior handling and ride on rough roads.
