The 9000's torsional rigidity is certainly closer to the fettucine end of the spectrum. My E34 BMWs would exhibit no effects on their nice, smooth door opening and closing when up in the air like the 9000s. And that was late-80s tech.
I've yet to go under my 2009 Jetta wagon, but I hear tell you can jack both front AND rear tires clean off the pavement from one jack point. So rigidity is certainly getting better, even if it's not perfect.
Not to denigrate the 9000 in any way! It was just a little more flexible than other cars of the day.
