Intermittent ABS light

The 97 has been setting an intermittent ABS light for a number of months. Went on 800 mile trip and no light, around town is another story. Light always goes out if the key is turned off and on. Recently the ABS has been activating occasionally, with no ABS light, on dry pavement during light to moderate braking. Having worked with speed sensors for many years, this was acting like there was something with magnetic properties bridging the gap between the sensor and tone wheel, corrupting the signal. Took a look at the RF ABS sensor, it came out very easily, contrary to some reports. There were signs if a thick light colored sealer and very little rust. At first glance the working end of the sensor looked terrible, there was an accumulation of black crud imbedded in sealer on the end. All this wiped off without much trouble and everything including the tone wheel looked good. OK, what to seal it with, it has to be non metallic, which leaves out Never Seez, and something that does not set up. Found a sample of metal free anti-seize Molykote P-74 paste. Black nasty stuff, coated the sensor, plastic sleeve, and sensor mounting hole, put it back together. Took it for a drive and so far so good, will know in the coming days if it worked. In the meantime need to take a look at the other sensors.
