That’s a good point. A poor ground could cause wide ranging affects, if there is no ground the system may not work at all, and a noisy ground could cause sensor signal problems amongst others.
If there is an open in a sensor lead, the unterminated wire into the control could pick up all kinds of electrical noise, some of which could pass through the sensor signal input filters. The sensors coils are fairly well shielded by being imbedded in the wheel knuckle – spindle plus having a metal body, it would take some pretty nasty EMI to affect a system as designed.
