Agreed Noel. Jeff has expressed it well. But only 100,000 ms in nine years..! :)
May he enjoy many more hundreds of thousands of smile-a-mile Saab driving.
I've put about double that and a tad more on my 1990 Saab 9000 Carlsson T. So far and with due maintenance, mainly a new MAP, one new window winder motor, busted aircon and speedometer, a new radio and regular synthetic oil changing, and the usual tyres replacements, I've had the best experience all round of any of the many cars I've owned.
(In fairness I only needed replace the radio because the superb original equipment had been stolen by a mongrel opportunist thief while the car was city parked one night.)
As for the aircon I've still to replace this, and I'm just putting up with the intermittent speedometer performance with its sometimes dead, sometimes flickering needle.
To my shame I've only just discovered with the latest new batch of tyres that the wheels are not original Carlsson. I'm the third owner. The second owner has obviously taken the wheels and put standard Saab wheels on the car. Or so I'm told by my expert tyre fitter who urges caution buying replacement wheels because the 9000 uses "directional wheels". That is, wheels can be swapped side to side, but not rotated all around. The front wheels can be changed from kerbside to offside. Same same the road wheels. But never front to back.
So this begs the question: Can anyone here help me with some advice? I need to know the proper specs for a four-stud Saab Carlsson wheel? I'm told an Aero rim will also fit.
But the local workshops haven't been much help.
I'll buy used from a parts supplier, but I need to know what to look for.
One more thing. I’m not Stateside. I live in Canberra, Australia. So no use poiting me to a US supplier.
Thanks kindly,

- Theo.
