As Bill Homer says, it's simply not the case that sizes are different fron to back. If you want that, try an SLK320.

Even if the odd-looking standard Saab ones are made directional there's surely no need to treat them as such unless, of course, the tyres actually fitted to them are directional! Might look odd to have different "directions" on the same side of the car, I suppose, and you might get slightly less brake cooling, or more, but the sky will not fall.

On the other hand, even with non-directional tyres, I never rotate wheels across the car, I either move front to back when I'm buying new fronts, or leave the rears on for the next lot of fronts, depending on state of wear - remembering always the the car eats front tyres.

The problems with the wheels I think you have are IMnotsoH opinion that they are (a) 15" diameter and (b) plug ugly, both of which need to be addressed if your lovely Carlssson is to show its face in public without blushing!

If changing your wheels, absolutely any four-stud Saab 9000 or classic 900 wheel would physically fit the hubs. Bill Homer's chart link is great but it depends what you can actually get in Oz.

Your original wheels would have been the 16" ones with grey centres and polished rims. Nice if you can get them, but in 16" I guess you are now more likely to find later Aero rims or the 3-spoke Aeros I have with the exposed wheel nuts, dating from 1997. These are all 6.5" rim width. Tyre size on the old shape cars used to be 205/50-16 as I remember, with 205/55 for later cars.

I have toyed with the idea of painting later wheels in two different silvers but - naah.

You can buy these wheels new from a couple of UK sources I know for about £200, they might ship and they should knock off the VAT of course.

If you are completely stuck I have a set of four 15" Aniversary wheels, the ones that look like Minilites. They are unused since being professionally refurbished - if you want to buy them I will stick an ad on the Classifieds to facilitate that. However though these would look nice they are still 15" and the other side of the globe from you...

If your fitter is as expert as he thinks he is he will balance them inside the rim with stick-on weights so as not to hide your nice new alloys.
