no word, just opinion. Mine is that its not a good idea, but might work fine for a long time.
Whats most important is to understand why... and that is Ion sensing. The T5 uses the DI to determine pre-ignition, in addition to the knock sensor. It does this by running a low voltage across the plug, which acts like a transistor (it can flow current during combustion, not otherwise). Because the black DI uses different technology, chances are pretty good you're compromising the ability of the ECU to detect pre ignition effectively. Same deal with not using the specified spark plug.
While this may yield better performance and fuel economy, one might suspect that it does so by running too far advanced, for example, which can cause it's own problems.
The DI/APC doesn't use ion sensing, which is why it's considered AOK to use the black DI in those cars.
