Black DI Does give a longer duration spark, which is Good.
It also has a significantly higher Knock threshold.. which is not so good.
Although using Premium fuel ...Religiously.. alleviates some of the possible knock detection threshold problem.
As does reconfiguring the knock map in the ECU.
Given that new Blacks are 'now' same price as Reds.
There's less $$ motivation to use a black.
IMO; likely Any fresh DI would show advantage against a nearly dead one.
