...where the axle comes thru the hub. You will need to pound hard on the axle end to break this free, if it's the original axle and has never been out before. I used a blunt-ended tool in an air chisel, set right into little hole in end of axle, and full shoulder pressure as it rat-a-tatted away, and it eventually started moving without mauling end of axle much. Keep the nut on, run right out to end of threads, to protect axle from mushrooming.
Then you undo the clamp on inner boot, and disconnect ball joint, and first extract inner tripod, then axle will pull out. Then you need to remove the circlip that holds the tripod joint on the axle, slide the tripod off, keeping all rollers on so needle bearings don't fall out, undo smaller clamp on inner boot, and slide inner boot off, then remove outer joint boot same way but down the length of axle and off inner end.
THEN you can install new outer boot, and new lube, if joint isn't so badly popping that it's already doomed. For that, probably the easiest cure and cheapest, if not most durable, is a rebuilt axle, complete.
First of all do BT's tests, don't assume this.
And I wouldn't be so sure your trouble came from jumping the curb, if it's a split open CV boot it may just have happened from age.
