My 1994 9000 CS Turbo (full power turbo plus Aero ECU) has the typical two broken long exhaust studs (both on cylinder 4, near the transmission) and I have been driving it this way for a couple of years. Lately, the leakage around the joint between the manifold and the head is starting to get worse, as evidenced by water vapor bubbling at startup and increased noise when accelerating.
The car is approaching 200,000 miles and my dilemma is whether to pay someone to drill out and replace at least one stud (don't want to do this myself), or bite the bullet and do a head gasket - will have the machine shop replace all of the studs with short ones, much easier to do this when the head is off the engine. Head gasket is seeping a small bit of oil near the front corner near cylinder #4, which is typical, but otherwise runs great. Car has been well cared for with regular changes of antifreeze and oil.
My C900 went for about 300,000 miles on its original head gasket, but is wasn't a turbo. How long do head gaskets last on these cars?
