Perhaps the old car had the 9-5 BPC Solenoid mod? In the US, 1995+ CS cars are normally Low Pressure Turbo setups, meaning that there is no BPC Solenoid. To develop a lot of boost, a BPC Solenoid must have been added at a later time, along with the wiring to control it.
One mod that can be done when reprogramming the ECU (i.e on your old car) is to modify the circuitry to run a 9-5 BPC Solenoid. Do you know what BPC Solenoid was on your old CS car?
