Recently, my CSE has been suffering MPG woes. Whereas I usually see 33MPG on the EDU with cruise control @ 65mph, I'm now getting 25-27. I can usually take a trip from Chicago to DC, filling up once and arriving with a half tank. My most recent trip, I pulled in with under a quarter.
Acceleration seems a little sluggish in 4th and 5th. BPC has been broken in the danger position for months, but I watch the boost gauge tenaciously, keep my foot off the floor, and don't let it much beyond the red lines.
Around town I'm still averaging the same 17-19.
What gives? Brakes aren't dragging, alignment is dead-on, air filter is clean, plugs are good, can't see anything hanging that might cause more resistance at highway speeds. Problem started a few months ago, before the gas blends changed and cold weather set in. I always run 93 octane from the same few Citgo or Shell stations in town.
As a side note: the shift light has been flaky, only coming on occasionally. I replaced the bulb and checked connections, to no avail. Could that be a sign of something?
Sigh.
