Geez, I guess I need to take another look at my owner's manual! I've probably never actually checked, but always thought the factory interval (with dino oil) was 3000 miles.
I thought the 10K interval was for synthetic oils and/or for later models like the 9-5? Or maybe the later years of the 9000 too?
We know the extended intervals were often cited as contributors to a lot of sludging in (later) Saabs, VWs, Audis, and so on, so I'd say it's wise to verify that 10K is actually recommended on dino oil. Heck, probably not a huge deal with modern dino oil even...but with these turbo engines you don't want to go too far.
You might hate me for saying so, but I stick to 3500-4500 intervals and standard dino oil in my cars. Perhaps for superstitious reasons at this point! A creature of habit I suppose.
