Yesss :-) I do replace the filter between oil changes. IMO Necessary / clever on an older engine. Reasons: yert again.. are that older engines allow byproducts of combustion past the rings, this is the Black in oil. Essentially a fine grinding compound.. recirculating in your engine.
Current oils contaminate Looong before they wear/time out.
IF cheap/lazy like me, I don't much like doing unnecessary Oil changes.. So I simply replace the filter giving the thing a fresh start at filtering out the carbon bits. In Cessna/Piper style.
IMO there is little to no danger of the filter clogging and going into bypass..unless the engine is trully clapped out.
IMO keeping the filter fresh is important... easy too.
Don't agree/think it's Nonsense?
Hey! don't do it then.. it's not my engine.
