The belt can be released by applying torque c-c wise on the backwards tensioner bolt. Apply slow steady pressure to compress the tensioner. It takes some force to move it.
When installing the head, use a couple studs or dowels in the cylinder head bolt holes to guide the head in place without getting against or damaging the timing chain tensioner
