Small fuel filter banjo fitting size? Posted by skibumm100 [Email] (#3255) [Profile/Gallery] (more from skibumm100) on Thu, 2 Jan 2014 09:32:48 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I picked up a set of new-to-me snows mounted on 4-bolt Saab alloys and put them on the CSE yesterday. I noticed a strong fuel smell. If I wasn't blind, I would've noticed the three big stains on the driveway where it had been previously parked. Turns out the banjo fitting on the clean side of the fuel filter has a pin hole leak. Pin hole might be an understatement as it looked like a supersoaker when I turned the key. The fuel pump cacacity is fine....
Since it's the small banjo fitting on the clean side of the filter, this line is not readily available. The feed side is available from eEuro and others. That leads me to a repair vs. replace. There is a guy in Rindge NH who sells an anodized banjo barb fitting on Ebay for 6 mm plastic fuel line. It's marketed for Volvos but a banjo is a banjo so it would work on Saabs if the size is correct. Anybody know the size of the fuel line coming out of the filter? The other route I can take is to get a used banjo and try to splice with a barb X barb brass fitting.
Last resort is a touch of JB weld or possibly a spot weld from the MIG. Yes, I know it's fuel and I'll be careful.
